In years past and likely again in the future, examiners may have to move their offices or be provided with a private office when promoted. The Patent Office Professional Association has negotiated standards, criteria, and priority selection for the available office space.
Many of these provisions were accomplished through two arbitration decisions called the Ross Award and the Jacksteit Award after the arbitrators had decide these issues as a result of the parties’ inability to reach a bilateral agreement on office space and office moves.
