Proposed Suspensions and Removals
Proposed removals based on conduct or performance, and proposed suspensions for conduct of greater than 14 days are called adverse actions. Proposed suspensions for conduct of 14 days or less are called disciplinary actions.
If you have been presented with a proposed removal or suspensions, or have been directed to attend an investigatory meeting, and you want POPA assistance, immediately contact the POPA hotline, 571-272-7161. If you are not contacted by a POPA representative within at most one business day, you should contact one of the POPA officers IMMEDIATELY!
- An adverse action is a removal (based on conduct or performance), or a suspension (based on conduct) of greater than 14 days. An oral reply must be requested within 15 days of receipt of this type of proposal.
- A disciplinary action is based on conduct, and is a letter of reprimand, or a suspension of less than 14 days. An oral reply must be requested within 10 days of receipt of this type of proposal.
- The agency will provide to the employee advanced written notice of a proposed action that will include reasons for the proposed action, the right to be represented, and the right to respond orally or in writing. A request for an oral reply must be made in writing.
